Lady Captain, Jill Howell, treated the ladies to a most enjoyable days golf followed by afternoon tea when they were joined by guests including a number of past Lady Captains.
The theme for the day was ‘Women’s Suffrage’ and players were asked to wear the colours of lilac, white or pale green which were the colours favoured by those women who campaigned for Votes for Women one hundred years ago. The players enjoyed the Lady Captain’s Waltz competition and several fun aspects were introduced to the round such as putting out with tennis balls at one hole, and playing another hole using only irons. Ladies also competed for prizes for Nearest the Pin in 3 for handicaps 25-36 on the 10 th, Nearest the Pin in 3 for handicaps 0-24 on the 15 th and Nearest a Rope on the 14 th .
On a very hot day, players were welcomed at the Gratwicke for refreshments served by Lady Captain’s husband Geoff and son Matthew, and Sheila Allen and Mens Captain Jim’s wife.
